Not only did we have more than 400 rather cute and cuddly teddy bears in school today – but we raised more than £700 for Children in Need through merchandise and donations. Fantastic! Well done everyone and have a lovely weekend.
The children are feeling right at home today as a sea of pyjamas, onesies, dressing gowns and slippers marks this year’s Children in Need event. We’ll keep you posted on how much we have raised.
As you know, our Governors visit the school regularly to see what is going on, meet the children and look at learning books. This morning’s focus visit looked at writing across the school and Miss Davis took our Governors off to see what the children are doing. They saw our new handwriting scheme in action – Peg to Paper, listened to the children read their stories, spoke to them about their identities as writers and had a good look in the books.
Year 1 had a fantastic day at Thorndon Country Park on a special ‘Room on the Broom’ adventure. They searched the forest for clues, listened to wonderful stories, made special spells and immersed themselves in a world of imagination.
A huge thank you to all our families for your amazing generosity this harvest. We had a lovely celebration this morning and were delighted to be joined by Rev Wendy and Nick Russell from St Saviours Church. Wendy told us all about a fearless female dairy farmer from Ireland, and Nick dazzled us with his magic tricks and helped us to think about the importance of being kind. It was a lovely celebration and our next job will be to bag up your donations and deliver them to our pensioner friends on the estate. Well done everyone
