The children are feeling right at home today as a sea of pyjamas, onesies, dressing gowns and slippers marks this year’s Children in Need event. We’ll keep you posted on how much we have raised.
As you know, our Governors visit the school regularly to see what is going on, meet the children and look at learning books. This morning’s focus visit looked at writing across the school and Miss Davis took our Governors off to see what the children are doing. They saw our new handwriting scheme in action – Peg to Paper, listened to the children read their stories, spoke to them about their identities as writers and had a good look in the books.
In preparation for our Year 6 Young Mathematicians competition, teachers from Explore Learning came in to work with some of our Year 6 children on nets and package design. As usual, our children thought hard and came up with some great ideas and justifications.
The smiles seem to say it all. Year 6 had an exciting and adventurous school journey week. A huge thank you to the staff that accompanied them and made the experience possible; Mrs Fenn, Miss Best, Mrs Willoughby, Mrs Drummond, Claire and Jo. And well done to the children who threw themselves into every activity and got the most out of every experience.
A huge thank you to all our families for your amazing generosity this harvest. We had a lovely celebration this morning and were delighted to be joined by Rev Wendy and Nick Russell from St Saviours Church. Wendy told us all about a fearless female dairy farmer from Ireland, and Nick dazzled us with his magic tricks and helped us to think about the importance of being kind. It was a lovely celebration and our next job will be to bag up your donations and deliver them to our pensioner friends on the estate. Well done everyone
