This is what ‘flooding’ looks like at Middle Park. In every class from FS2 to Year 2, three times a week a team of staff are drafted in for a 30 minute focused reading session, and twice a week in Year 3. We know that by increasing the frequency of quality of reading time in school we can support children to progress in their reading so that they can start reading to learn and reading for pleasure.

Cameron in Year 2 has been investigating coins in his homework and had this brilliant idea as a way of recording his learning. Great job Cameron!

Thanks to Emma and our lovely catering team for a delicious American Diner day yesterday. We loved it.

You might remember that last year we had nesting robins in our air conditioning unit. Obviously this isn’t ideal, so this year we have blocked off the entrance and Brian has built us our very own robin nesting box instead. Robins like to nest in an open-fronted box situated quite low to the ground. Hopefully they can tuck in on the left so they are safe from predators. Fingers crossed they forgive us for sealing the unit and like their new pad enough to nest again.

We are working hard at the moment to uncover more hidden stories in our curriculum and this is the true story of Sophia Duleep Singh, a suffragette of indian and Egyptian descent. We can’t wait to share it with the children.

Tutoring has kicked off in school and in total, 96 children will be receiving at least 15 hours of small group tuition with our teachers. Most of this is taking place before and after school and it so lovely to have children in enjoying their learning over this extended day. This tutoring is part of our covid catch up plan and gives us all the opportunity to deal with any learning gaps and make sure everyone is where they need to be.

Breaktimes are all about spending time with friends, letting off steam and playing games. We work hard and we play hard.
