At Middle Park Primary School we believe every child has the right to a high quality Music education, and that the skills children develop through Music have a hugely positive impact on many other areas of life and learning to increase self-confidence and creativity.
Singing forms a core part of what we do at Middle Park. All children take part in our enthusiastic and enjoyable singing assemblies. In addition to this all pupils explore music within their classes, in which many areas of musicianship (such as listening, notation, and composition) are taught through songs and singing games. We extend these skills where pupils are given the opportunity to perform as part of a choir or steel band. Our groups work towards performances both in and out of school, including end of school concerts. Currently, the instrument used within the school are; Guitars, Maracas, Xylophones, Ukuleles, Trumpets, Tambourine and Flutes.
Through the school, every pupil will be able to explore and experience many of the instruments and musical styles. They will have the opportunity to compose a piece of music using instruments and IT, using different types notations according to specific year group skills. We believe that children can experience the enjoyment and satisfaction of performing as part of a group right from the very first stages in the nursery all the way to the end of year 6.
