At Middle Park we value music and the enjoyment it creates.  Through our teaching we aim to include a diverse variety of music genres and link our teaching to many places around the world. Music is a uniquely human form of expression. We are aiming to inspire and create learners who have an understanding and appreciation of music. We want all children to develop their confidence and understanding with composition and performance to create well rounded musicians in all areas of music.

We follow an exciting music scheme called Charanga. As children progress through the curriculum, they have the opportunity to listen, compose, improvise, rehearse and perform.  We aim to embed a love of music and free expression in all our children as we know this will enrich their whole education.

There are many opportunities for singing and performing together and this helps children develop a sense of unity. They join together to sing in assemblies and perform to audiences at events throughout the year.

In Key Stage 2 some children have been offered the opportunity to have additional small group tuition with a music tutor. Children are able to become proficient in playing either the guitar or trumpet and build on and develop their skills each year.
