At Middle Park, learning the French language provides a valuable educational, social and cultural experience for our pupils. It helps them to develop communication skills including key skills of speaking, listening and writing and extends their knowledge of how language works. Learning another language gives children a new perspective on the world, encouraging them to understand their own cultures and those of others.
Our French lessons enthuse, engage and motivate pupils to foster their curiosity and enthusiasm for the learning. A multi-sensory and kinaesthetic approach to teaching is used in the delivery of the subject, with an emphasis on the use of practical activities that are dynamic, inspirational and fun. We try to make lessons as enjoyable as possible so that the children develop a positive attitude to the learning of French. Children’s confidence is increased by praise for any contribution they make, however tentative.
At Middle Park, we address the Primary National Curriculum for Modern Foreign Languages through making the learning of a new language fun and exciting using themed blocks of work. The aims and objectives of learning a foreign language in Middle Park School are to;
- Foster an interest in learning other languages,
- Develop an appreciation and awareness of the diversity of languages and cultural differences in other countries and to introduce the children to another language in a way that is enjoyable and fun
- Ultimately provide pupils with the skills to lay the foundations for future study within languages.
