At Middle Park, through our high quality computing curriculum, we aim to develop the children’s enquiry and problem solving abilities to prepare them for a world that is forever changing; giving them lifelong skills that are transferable as they grow and mature. These skills will be essential for working environments that may have not yet been created, or even technology that is yet to be discovered.
Through our inspirational and engaging computing curriculum; we have a wide variety of methods that we use to deliver computing. With our high technology resources to child ratio, the children have the best opportunity of learning through practical experience. Computers, class iPad sets, laptops, programmable drones and even virtual reality glasses really help to support and drive learning. At Middle Park, we also have the first and only LEGO Innovation Studio in South East London. This studio provides children with the chance to learn programming and coding through the enjoyment of LEGO. We use the four Cs to enhance children’s problem solving skills and resilience in learning. These are Connect, Construct, Contemplate, Continue; giving children the ability to really reflect on their learning and collaboration skills to trouble shoot and debug in order to be successful programmers.
The varied resources at Middle Park allow the children to have the opportunity to learn key skills such as designing, debugging and writing of programs to meet specific goals. As well as using logical reasoning to explain some simple algorithms and correcting errors in programs. We recognise, advocate and educate the essential skill of using technology safely, respectfully and responsibly. This is a core belief that is upheld in all our computing lessons.
