Some of Year Five and Year Six children have been trained by Diane as play-leaders to help our children play together, learn new games and resolve any problems.
Look out for their special t-shirts in the playground.
Our school Play Leader Scheme starts in the upper juniors. At the beginning of the year, these children can apply for the job, and if successful they will receive training and become one of our Play Leaders. The job of a Play Leader is to encourage younger children to be active, and to play constructive games together. Each Play Leader will be on duty once a week. They take an early lunch, don their red or green t-shirt and under the watchful eye of the Playground Manager, spend that lunchtime setting out equipment, and organising various games.
They also organise and run a Sports Day for the Foundation Stage, as well as helping out the Infants at their Sports Day.
The scheme works very well developing the leadership skills of the older children whilst ensuring the younger children are active and learning to play well together.
