A HUGE thank you to our very own Pearly Princess of Woolwich (Miss Bennett), her Pearly King Daddio (Clive) and the naughtiest Chelsea Pensioner we’ve ever met (Dave) for agreeing to cut the ribbon on our new Nursery. We can’t imagine a better start to this new era for our youngest children. LOVE IT!!
We have had three after-school Sewing Clubs running this year for our junior children. Together, they have made this wonderful wall hanging which is on display for tonight’s Curriculum Evening. Well done to all the children and to Michele and Mrs Plume who give them this fantastic opportunity
We’re really excited today as we have welcomed 26 Chinese students in to school from Donghai Primary School in China. They are going to spend the next 5 days with us as they want to learn all about what it is like to go to school in England. As always, our children have embraced and welcomed them warmly. We love making new friends and we’re excited to learn more about our similarities and our differences. Fun!
What a fantastic morning of sport our junior children have enjoyed. Thank you so much to the staff and students of Eltham Hill School for organising such a brilliant event. The children absolutely loved it and there were some great individual and team achievements. Thanks also to the staff and the Dads who were up for a bit of fun at the end – and most of all, thanks to Miss Turner who put so much time and effort into the day. We loved it!
China, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Kenya, Nigeria….. we are travelling all around the world today and learning a little bit about other cultures. Our children and families speak more than 24 different languages and it’s really fun learning what makes us different and what makes us the same. Thanks to the parents and grandparents who came to tell us about their cultures and traditions and who supported staff to plan a really fun-packed day.
Tomorrow we are having our special Cultural Day in school when each class learns about a different culture. Miss Yakula got us all geared up in this morning’s assembly when we enjoyed a whistle-stop tour around the world. Some lucky people got to try some Turkish food, we made African jewellery and Chinese lanterns, we saw some Indian dancing and probably best of all, we met Hugo the Chow Chow – a breed of dog that originated from China. He certainly is a hot dog today!
A summary of the day with video can be found here – http://www.peddlemywheels.com/school-bike-markets or see below
How it works –
● 08:00-09:30: drop off bikes for selling and we tag them with your details. These are added to the selection of children’s bikes (and adult on request*) we bring along.
● 09:30-15:30: mechanic checks every bike and makes minor repairs where necessary
● people selling bikes will get a valuation of the bike sent via email and a link to a secure site for inputting their bank or PayPal details for payment to be made when the bike sells
● there is a 25% commission charge on all bike sales which we deduct once the bike is sold
● 15:30-16:30: market opens for people to buy bikes. We accept credit cards and cash
● sellers will receive an email when their bike sells and a money transfer will be made the Monday after it sells
● unsold bikes are taken with us to be sold at other markets and payments are made once sold
● if the seller wants to take their unsold bike it is their responsibility to collect at the end of the day
● Any questions – please email info@peddlemywheels.com * Any adult looking for a bike for themselves should complete a ‘Market Order Form’ on our website at least 48 hours before the event and we will try and bring something suitable along.
Our Year 6 have just 20 days left at primary school before they launch themselves into the world, and yesterday they had a fantastic day learning all about how to keep safe while they are out and about on their own. Some really important learning went on and Year 6 listened carefully and thought hard about some of the many curve balls that life can throw at us.
