Thank you so much to all the parents and carers who came in this morning to help get things ready for the Christmas Fair. It’s so good to be seeing you all back in school like this again.
Year 5 have had the most fantastic time watching The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. In their words ….. “Oh my gosh absolutely amazing…. Cast…. Singing …dancing we LOVED IT!!”
They caught their train and are due back to Mottingham at 5.45pm. We expect them back at school by around 6pm.
VERY excited to welcome Scout the reading dog in to school this morning. Year 4 are looking forward to sharing a story or two with that lovely little snout.
Look what we got! A super-cool flag to celebrate achieving the Eco-Schools Award for everything we do to encourage nature and to be as sustainable as possible. Thanks Miss Bennett and our Eco Council. We are going to get a proper flag pole and fly our flag high!
Yesterday, our Head Girl, Head Boy and their deputies came to introduce themselves to our school governors. They explained how excited they are to have been selected and how determined they are to be the very best role models this year. We can’t wait to see them all in action and to watch their leadership skills grow. Congratulations!
Athena Class have been reading the story ‘Orion and the Dark’ in their English lessons. They have been describing the dark in sentences and they used collage materials to create some dark inspired artwork. They listened to spooky music to help get their creative juices flowing.
Let’s talk about Little Wandle. At Middle Park we use Little Wandle as our synthetic phonics programme as we teach our children to read. Yesterday, our school’s Improvement Partner came to see how we implement the programme in school. She saw several staff delivering whole class phonics teaching, she saw how we use ‘flooding’ to continue teaching reading in small groups several times a week and she looked at how catch-up sessions support children who might benefit from some over-learning. We introduced Little Wandle in January 2022 and it is having a significant impact on our children’s reading – the gateway to so much of their future learning.
We express our deepest sympathies for the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II. Her dedication to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and to her other realms and territories is unparalleled and we thank her for her service. Middle Park Primary School will observe the mourning period and continue to support our children, families and staff.
