persuasive letter
Miss Eccleston really enjoyed Anna’s persuasive letter that she wrote for homework last week. Well done, Anna.
Pupil Leadership in School
It has been a magical week in school as pupils put themselves forward for various leadership roles in school. In a memorable afternoon, 18 Year 6 children who had all been nominated by staff, presented to a panel on why they should be considered for the role of Head Girl/Head Boy. The presentations were of an exceptional quality and they certainly gave the panel a very challenging dilemma!
We were particularly proud of some of our neurodivergent pupils who proudly declared their differences as their strengths, a way for them to stand out from the crowd. For some children, they were really facing their fears and being so brave to speak publicly and answer questions from the panel. For all the children, it was clear how much effort and determination they had put into their speeches. It was very moving and they will know, there was more than a tear or two on the faces of the staff on the panel.
Thank you to the children who sat on the panel and contributed to the decisions thoughtfully and fairly.
And an ENORMOUS well done to all 18 who went for it. You are a credit to yourselves and you should all feel so proud of yourselves. What wonderful young leaders you all are.

Welcome back!!!
We are BACK and that stormy sky has been the story of our first week, with bright sunshine and torrential downpours to help us back into the school routine. Never mind. We needed the pond to get a bit of a top up!
It has been so wonderful to welcome the children back, to see their smiley faces and hear all their news. The school has been very settled with everyone finding their feet in their new locations.
We have two brand new teachers to say a big hello to. A huge welcome to Mr Franklin who is teaching in Year 2 Terpsichore and to Mrs Robinson who is in Year 4 Hera with Mr Drury. We are very happy to have you with us, welcome to the family.
This week we have been thinking a lot about our leavers as they would have started their next chapter at secondary school. We thought about them in assemblies and all agreed that they were wonderful role models of leadership and courage. They have inspired us and will leave a lasting legacy at Middle Park – we wish them all well.
It was a pleasure to invite Councillor Christine May and Rachael Taggart to our school council meeting to talk about the health and safety surrounding our school. The children did us proud!
They presented their concerns as well as their possible solutions with confidence, asked brilliant questions which made Councillor May and Rachael ‘think very hard.’
There was a very important question which was asked by Rachael, “If there was one thing you could change in our community what would it be?’ How would you answer that ?
Teachers in Years 1 to 6 have introduced CAPTIONS in some of their teaching. This means that the teacher wears a microphone and their words show on the screen like subtitles. There is a lot of evidence that this can support some learners to focus and process information effectively.
We will keep listening to the children and asking how this is helping them.
Our school governors want to know EVERYTHING that goes on in school and their favourite thing is listening to our children. Brilliant Club came to tell them all about this year’s project on PHILOSOPHY. The children have been thinking about fairness and equity. They create assignments and a dissertation and end up with university-style grades and a visit to a university. They were so inspired this year and really enjoyed the deep thinking and deep learning.
