Year 5 Experience Fine Dining
On the 20th March Year 5 Matilda enjoyed a sophisticated day at the City View fine dining restaurant at Shooter Hill campus. The children were able to experience what it is like to work in a restaurant and best of all eat a three course lunch.
Children learned how to fold napkins (not serviettes) into a Bishop Mitre shape. They cleaned glasses using a double dip method; vinegar and then water. The glasses were held up to the light to check for smears. Knives and forks had to be cleaned and polished in the same way. Tables were laid precisely ensuring each item was correctly placed. All of the children showed their fantastic table manners and gently reminded each other when elbows wandered onto the table. Children in Year 5 are now officially trained in laying tables and eating three course meals!! Make sure you get them to demonstrate their skills at home.
